Varberg Timber

Upgrade of Fully Automated Impregnation Plant

Customer: Varberg Timber
Location: Varberg, Sweden
Upgrade period: 2025–2026
Plant category: CCA Impregnation

The Challenge

Varberg Timber wanted to upgrade and future-proof its existing fully automated impregnation plant and transport system. A key part of the project was to replace the existing autoclave with a pre-owned stainless-steel autoclave purchased by Varberg Timber from another sawmill.

At the same time, several mechanical components of the plant and transport system required upgrading to improve operational reliability and ensure the installation could continue to meet the demands of daily production.

The Solution

WTT carried out the complete upgrade and recommissioning of the fully automated impregnation plant and transport system.

The existing autoclave was replaced with the pre-owned stainless-steel autoclave. As part of the installation, the internal rails were replaced, new hydraulic clamps were installed, and the autoclave was pressure-tested to verify its condition and ensure compliance with applicable requirements.

The rail system for the automatic traverser was also upgraded with an adjustable design, following the same principle used in WTT’s new fully automated plants. This allows for precise alignment of the rails and significantly improves the reliability and operation of the automatic transport system.

Following installation, the complete system was tested and recommissioned by WTT.
